Overview

The Canon EOS R8 Mark II pairs a 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor with a DIGIC X processor for rich detail, natural colours and cleaner low-light results. Five-axis in-body image stabilisation delivers up to 7.5 stops of coordinated shake correction. Dual Pixel CMOS AF II tracks people, pets and fast-moving action, with electronic shutter burst shooting at up to 40fps.

Key Features:

• 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor – The 24.2MP full-frame sensor captures rich detail, natural colours and beautiful bokeh. The larger light-gathering surface delivers cleaner results in low light than APS-C sensors.
• Dual Pixel CMOS AF II – Dual Pixel CMOS AF II uses deep learning to recognise and track people, animals and vehicles. Eye, face, head and body tracking keeps your subject in focus whether moving towards you or across the frame, working in light levels as low as EV -7.5.
• Five-axis in-body image stabilisation – The camera adds five-axis in-body IS, a first for this class of EOS full-frame body. Coordinated control with compatible RF lenses provides up to 7.5 stops of shake correction at the centre and 7.0 stops at the periphery.
• 40fps electronic shutter burst – Electronic shutter continuous shooting reaches up to 40fps. The expanded buffer handles up to 73 RAW files in a single burst, a notable increase over the original EOS R8.
• Pre-continuous shooting – Pre-continuous shooting in H+ mode records approximately half a second before the shutter button is fully pressed. This captures up to 20 extra frames to help secure the decisive moment.
• Canon Log 3 – The camera supports Canon Log 3 for video, alongside Custom Picture profiles and LUT support. This gives you greater control over colour grading and dynamic range.
• 6K-oversampled 4K 60p video – The camera records oversampled 4K 60p from 6K data, alongside Full HD at up to 180fps for slow motion. Cinema View (2.35:1 aspect ratio) supports a cinematic framing option.
• 16 colour filters – Colour filters cover both stills and video with 16 options, including NegativeFilmtone and PositiveFilmtone. Filter strength adjusts from 0 to 100% in 10% increments.
• Multi-controller joystick – A multi-controller joystick provides direct focus point selection and faster menu navigation. This is a first for an EOS R series full-frame camera in this class.
• Register People Priority – The camera can register up to 10 faces in-camera and up to 100 on a memory card. Registered individuals are prioritised for autofocus tracking in crowded scenes.
• Compact and lightweight – The body weighs approximately 499g alone and 546g with card and battery. This makes it Canon's lightest full-frame camera with in-body IS.
• Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 – Connectivity covers Wi-Fi 2.4GHz and 5GHz, Bluetooth 5.3, and a high-speed USB-C port with 10Gbps data transfer and power delivery. This supports wireless transfer and remote shooting.

Ideal For

• Photographers upgrading to a full-frame mirrorless system
• Hybrid shooters needing both stills and 4K video
• Travel and landscape photographers wanting a lightweight body
• Portrait and event photographers needing reliable autofocus tracking
• Users wanting in-body stabilisation for handheld shooting
