Overview
The Olympus STF-8 broadens the field of macro photography while making shooting in macro easier. This twin-flash unit is compact, lightweight, dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof down to -10℃. Use it along with an M.Zuiko PRO lens or macro lens to add another dimension to your photography.
Features
Compact, lightweight, dustproof, and splashproof design for superb mobility
The STF-8 is compact, lightweight, dustproof, splashproof, and freezeproof down to -10℃, making it perfect for outdoor shooting. The included ring adapter is compatible with three M.Zuiko Digital lenses. It can also be attached to other lenses using a commercially available step-up/down ring.
Guide numbers suitable for macro photography
Use both flashes for a guide number of 8.5 or one flash for a guide number of 6. You can shoot at the closest focusing distance (maximum magnification) when using a diffuser with compatible lenses.
Macro photography with a wide-angle lens
The STF-8 is useful in wide-angle macro photography that incorporates backgrounds into a close-up shot. Use this flash unit together with a fisheye lens or super-wide angle lens for a new style of close-ups.
Movable flash heads
The angle of the flash heads can be adjusted -60 to 40 degrees, and the position of the flash heads along the ring adapter can be adjusted as well. Arrange the flashes to create shadows and achieve your desired level of depth in your photos.
Output ratio control
The output ratio can be controlled from 1:8 to 8:1 between the left and right flash heads. Use the dial for quick output ratio adjustment.
Dedicated diffuser for soft lighting
A dedicated diffuser is included for creating soft lighting effects. The diffuser is designed so that you can select to use or not use it without having to attach or remove it every time.
Designed with working distance in mind
The flash heads are nearly even with the end of the lens for minimal effects on the lens working distance.
Focus Stacking/Focus Bracketing compatible
The STF-8 can be used with popular features on the OM-D E-M1 Mark II, such as Focus Stacking and Focus Bracketing.
Freedom in lighting
The flash heads can be removed from the ring adapter for further freedom in lighting. For example, keep one flash on the ring adapter to light the subject, and remove the other to use for background lighting.
Wireless control
This flash unit is compatible with the wireless flash control. It can be used as the commander flash during multiple-flash photography.
