At 35mm equivalent, this zoom lens covers a wide focal length range from 24mm wide angle shooting to 400mm telephoto shooting, with the highest magnification^[*] on an interchangeable lens for mirrorless systems at 16.6x. This single lens can record a wide scene or zoom in on a single spot.

High-speed, high-precision AF
The inner focusing system uses a single lightweight cemented lens for focusing. Resulting in reliable, high-speed, high-precision AF performance. Shooting lag time is reduced, meaning you will always be ready for that split second opportunity.

Excellent depictive performance
Two super ED lenses and two ED lenses are used to thoroughly suppress chromatic aberration fluctuations that occur across the entire zoom range. Three aspherical lenses are also placed in effective locations to suppress curvature of field and distortion fluctuations due to zoom changes. ZERO Coating reduces ghosts and thoroughly suppresses flares, which are the cause of reduced contrast, for a rich range of tonal expression.

Minimal angle of view shift even when changing the focal point
Angle of view shift is minimised even when the focal point is changed. This is particularly useful when recording videos.
