Quad-proof Protection
The DMC-TS3(FT3) is shockproof, waterproof, dustproof
and freezeproof in design with the capability to record
high-definition movie in AVCHD format. Featuring a 28mm wide-angle lens,
the iA (Intelligent Auto) Mode and GPS function, this versatile camera
lets you capture your moments no matter what the intended shooting
terrain is.
Swim along with tropical fish and capture shots of
beautiful coral reefs, or take recordings of your friends around a camp
fire. The DMC-TS3(FT3) is an extremely versatile camera that you can
take with you wherever the action calls.
With waterproof performance to a depth of 12m
equivalent to the "IPX8" and "IP6X" standard, the DMC-TS3(FT3) supports
active shooting on a beach, underwater or in a pool. If the camera
gets dirty, soil and dust can be washed off by using water.
The DMC-TS3(FT3) is dropproof from a height up to 2m
in accordance with the "MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock" test standard.
It lets you shoot actively while moving around with the camera in one
hand.
The DMC-TS3(FT3) is dustproof equivalent to the
"IPX8" and "IP6X" standard. While hiking or playing sports, fine dust
particles can enter through gaps in the camera body and cause
malfunction. The DMC-TS3(FT3) can be used in these activities without
problems.
With freezeproof to
-10 degrees
Celsius, the DMC-TS3(FT3) supports shooting while skiing, snowboarding
or skating.
Thanks to rubber padding and reinforced glass inside
the camera, the DMC-TS3(FT3) features an airtight body protected
against water immersion, dust and sand. Previously, there were separate
terminal covers but these are relocated at one part covered by a single
door. With the minimum apertural area, the DMC-TS3(FT3) boasts even
higher tightness of sealing to withstand pressure in underwater as deep
as 12m.
In addition to reinforcing the exterior of the camera with
shock-resistant material, the DMC-TS3(FT3) uses folded optics to
prevent its lens unit from taking damage when dropped during operation.
The lens unit is protected by a supplementary damper to absorb the
force from shock impact. All components are reexamined to endure the
temperature as low as -10 degrees C to make the freezeproof.

4 Active Outdoor Scene Modes
The DMC-TS3(FT3) has 4 active outdoor Scene Modes –
Sports, Snow, Beach & Snorkeling, and Underwater – that can be
selected easily and quickly by the menu, ensuring that you don’t miss
sudden shooting opportunities. The Beach & Snorkeling Mode is
perfect for your beach activities, allowing you to use a single mode
with optimized auto white balance both on the beach and in shallow
water. To switch from still image shooting to motion image recording,
simply press the Motion Picture Button.
Large, 2.7-inch, 230,000-dot
High-resolution LCD
The DMC-TS3(FT3)'s large 2.7-inch LCD features a high
230,000-dot resolution, and a wide-viewing angle that lets you frame
your shot in a variety of ways for both shooting and viewing. LUMIX's
acclaimed Intelligent LCD function also automatically adjusts the
brightness in 11 steps according to shooting conditions. In addition,
the AR (anti-reflective) coating LCD minimizes glare and provides clear
images, for high visibility even in outdoor brightness.
This LCD
provides sharp, clear images in virtually all shooting situations,
ranging from nighttime to bright daylight scenes and from low-angle to
high-angle shooting. And it lets you share the fun of viewing images
with family and friends.
Wide-viewing Angle
LEICA DC Lens with Folded Optics
Technology
The DMC-TS3(FT3) features a
high-quality LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR 28mm wide-angle lens* with a 4.6x
optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 28-128mm). The folded optics of
shaft guide method is adopted to secure the toughness of the lens unit.
This lens unit comprises 10 elements and a prism unit in 8 groups,
including an ED lens and 5 aspherical lenses with 6 aspherical surfaces
passing the Leica's stringent standards to deliver exceptional optical
performance to the edges.
The DMC-TS3(FT3) is drop proof from a
height up to 2.0m in accordance with the “MIL-STD 810F

4.6x Optical Zoom / 6x Intelligent
Zoom / 9.1x Extra Optical Zoom
The DMC-TS3(FT3) features a 4.6x
optical zoom lens (35mm camera equivalent: 28-128mm). This gives you
highly natural expressions from people and animals that you can't get
close to. The 4.6x optical zoom can be increased its power to 6x
equivalent with the Intelligent Zoom function. Furthermore, the Extra
Optical Zoom function that extends zoom power to 9.1x* by using the
center part of the large CCD brings subjects even closer.

The Intelligent Resolution technology
realizes the Intelligent Zoom*, which virtually extends the optical
zoom ratio to its 1.3x equivalent (approx.) maintaining the picture
quality even combining the digital zoom. This means the 4.6x optical
can virtually extend to 6x.
* The Intelligent Zoom function turns ON in the iA
Mode or in some Scene Modes. In other cases, turn ON the Intelligent
Zoom from the menu to activate it.
Newly Developed
12.1-megapixel Hi-speed CCD
The newly developed 12.1-megapixel CCD with 2-channel
signal output structure boasts higher signal transfer speed for the
operations that require high performance and speed such as 1,920 x
1,080 full HD movie recording and high speed continuous shooting. The
image quality is also improved thanks to the higher sensitivity which
is made possible by highly efficient light condensation adoption larger
on-chip micro lenses.
Sonic Speed AF
The Sonic Speed AF system includes
numerous re-engineering enhancements, including a higher-speed
actuator, optimized algorithms and parallel software processing. The
result is fast and accurate AF performance.
In addition, the
DMC-TS3(FT3) features dramatically speedier focusing that is 28% faster
than our previous model.* You can quickly focus on moving subjects,
such as when you're shooting sports scenes.

is in the wide setting range. This refers to the time from pressing the
shutter button until exposure begins. Using a Panasonic measurement

Short Release Time Lag
The shutter release time lag is as short as approx. 0.005
second, making it easy to capture sudden, spur-of-the-moment
photo opportunities.

12.1-megapixel Full-resolution
The DMC-TS3(FT3) lets you snap off
consecutive shots at approx. 3.7 frames per second in full resolution.
You can take a series of shots, then choose the one you like the best
and delete the rest. You can also select High-speed Burst Mode or Flash
Burst Mode from Scene Mode.
• The burst speed values given above
apply when the shutter speed is 1/60 or faster and when the flash is
not activated. The number of recordable images depends on the memory
card size and battery life. The burst speed is constant regardless of
the transfer speed of the card.

Venus Engine FHD
The Venus Engine FHD is incorporated that features
exceptionally advanced signal processing capabilities.
By separating
chromatic noise from luminance noise and applying the optimal noise
reduction to each, you can capture clear and beautiful images even when
shooting at high ISO sensitivity levels. The Venus Engine FHD also
provides precisely selective noise reduction to the chromatic noise
without affecting the border of colors which is judged from the
brightness level of a pixel.
Linking smoothly with the new Hi-Speed
CCD sensor, the Venus Engine FHD processes a large amount of signals
at high speed, making it possible to record 1,920 x 1,080 full HD movie
recording and high resolution consecutive shots at 3.7 fps in
12.1-megapixel full resolution and max.10 fps at 3-megapixel recording.

According to the rise of movie recording popularity,
digital cameras are now more compatible with it. The DMC-TS3(FT3) has
recording capability of full HD 1,920 x 1,080 movies in AVCHD format*1.
The AVCHD format features almost doubling the recording time in HD
quality compared with conventional Motion JPEG. In addition, a host of
options enhance the usability and fun of recording high quality full HD
movie. The DMC-TS3(FT3) offers versatile ways of recording memories
not only in beautiful photo but also in high quality movie with
ultimate ease of operation in virtually all shooting situations.
The DMC-TS3(FT3) also features Intelligent Resolution technology.
Rather than uniformly enhanced sharpness, Intelligent Resolution
precisely optimizes signal processing to give the entire image
outstandingly natural clarity and fine detail. As a result, images are
naturally clear and crisp in movies as well as in photos.
Built-in GPS (Global
Positioning System)
With the DMC-TS3(FT3), it is possible to use the GPS
(Global Positioning System) function to record data on the shooting
location. You can view images for each geographical location by using
the included software PHOTOfunSTUDIO 6.1 HD Lite Edition to manage the
images by date and location.
The LUMIX GPS displays not only
latitudes and longitudes, but also the
area information that covers 203 countries or regions
and the landmark information of over
1,000,000 locations in 82 countries or regions.
You can even create your own landmarks with the
DMC-TS3(FT3) for your home, family's or friend's house or any places
you like. Register your favorite places on the spot when you are there
(Max. 50 places).
The DMC-TS3(FT3) shows the name of the
Country/Region, State/Prov./County, County/Township, City/Town/Village
and Landmark using the internal data to give users real-time
information of the place when taking photos to add fun of photo
shooting during travel. *1
With the DMC-TS3(FT3),
the speed of search is accelerated thanks to the improvement in the
algorithm of the software. In addition, rural area like camping ground,
ski resort, etc. are also registered.
The photos and movies
with the location names are automatically sorted in the virtual folder
alphabetically in the camera allowing quick reach.
The location
data where the photo was taken is embedded with its latitude and
longitude is automatically in the Exif data. These geo-tagged images
can be pinpointed on the maps of social media internet maps to be
shared with your friends and families.
POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image
Stabilizer) – Shake Detection
Everyone has had an experience of
taking a photo at night and hoping to capture all the memories and
beauty, only to be disappointed at the poor result. Panasonic has
worked on the low-frequency vibration hand-shake component, which is
physically generated when pressing the shutter button or when shooting
at night with a slow shutter speed. The POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image
Stabilizer)* nearly doubles the hand-shake correction power of
conventional MEGA O.I.S. You get bright photos without blurring even
from handheld shooting at slow shutter speeds.

Motion Deblur Mode
When trying to record children or pets
in a dimly lit room, have you ever missed to capture a smiling face or
a special moment because your subject moved, causing the image to
blur?
With the DMC-TS3(FT3), the Motion Deblur Mode* prevents
blurring with even greater power.
This mode integrates the
Intelligent ISO Control, which automatically adjusts the ISO setting
and shutter speed according to the subject's movement, and the advanced
contrast control system of Intelligent Exposure, which also optimizes
the exposure to prevent over/under-exposed parts in the image. The
camera judges the appropriate shutter speed to suppress motion blur
according to the subject's movement. The shutter speed rises as high as
possible activating the high sensitivity recording by pixel mixed
readout method.
The camera determines the optimal settings, so
anyone can easily capture crisp, clear photos － without blurring.

Intelligent ISO Control – Motion
Detection
The Intelligent ISO Control function* detects subject
movement and automatically adjusts the ISO setting and shutter speed
to best suit the movement and light conditions. When it detects subject
motion, it automatically raises the ISO setting and increases the
shutter speed to prevent motion blur. On the other hand, when the
subject is still and no movement is detected, it takes beautifully
natural photos with a low ISO setting.
The subject is clear even though it moves, thanks to
the I.ISO function.
The image is very clear because the I.ISO
function keeps the ISO setting low.
* The Intelligent ISO Control function is
automatically turned on in the iA Mode, and can be turned on or off in
the Normal Picture Mode to enable a maximum sensitivity setting.
Intelligent Exposure –
Light Detection
The Intelligent Exposure instantly analyzes the
framed image and adjusts the brightness in areas that are too dark due
to dim lighting, backlighting or use of the flash. Adjusting the
brightness of dark areas, this produces natural images that are close to
the way they actually look to the human eye.
* The Intelligent Exposure function is
automatically turned on in the iA Mode and can be turned on or off in
the Normal Picture Mode.
Auto Backlight Compensation
When there is strong backlighting, the background
appears nice and bright, but the subject is dark. This function detects
backlight condition and compensates it automatically.
Face Detection AF/AE with
Face Recognition
The DMC-TS3(FT3) features the Face Recognition, a
function that “remembers” faces. The conventional face detection system
captures a face with focus and appropriate exposure but sometimes it
falls not on the face you want to capture most beautifully when there
are several faces in a frame. The Face Recognition prioritizes focus and
exposure right on the face of your special person*1. In
playback, you can choose to display only photos that contain a specific
registered face using the Category Playback.
The Face Detection
also features the Digital Red-eye Correction (Red-eye Removal). The
camera takes care of the red-eye effect that often happens when
shooting with a flash, to ensure attractive facial expression*2.
The flash is forced on against back light condition
if back light compensation is not enough.
After detecting exposure of face's part, the amount
of the flash lighting is automatically adjusted.
(The camera
activates the flash in the red-eye reduction mode when it detects a
face.)
The occurrence of red-eye is automatically reduced by
a pre-flash in the iA Mode and corrected by the Digital Red-eye
Correction function.
Intelligent Scene Selector – Scene
Detection
When the camera's in the iA Mode, the Intelligent
Scene Selector automatically sets the Scene Mode to one of Scenery,
Portrait, Macro, Night Portrait*1, Night Scenery or Sunset.
The camera judges it from the various detection results such as
focusing and brightness level of the circumstance*2. You are
free from annoying settings every time scene changes when taking images
with these most frequently used Scene Modes to get beautiful results
even before you know it.
The newly added 3D Photo Mode*
produces a 3D image in the camera. The image-processing method used by
LUMIX records beautiful images with less distortion or visible image
links. Take 20 panning shots and the camera automatically selects the
two most suitable images – one for the right eye and one for the left
eye – to synthesize a 3D composite.
The 3D image can be viewed on a
VIERA HDTV. The 3D image format is compatible with MPO, so it can be
played back on other MPO-compatible equipment such as TVs and digital
photo frames, or printed.
*The picture size is fixed to 2-megapixel (16:9)
Slide the camera for consecutive shots. The camera
creates 3D photo data by selecting two optimal images.
The 3D image can be viewed on VIERA 3D
HDTV and gives you a whole new exciting experience.

Photos or movies recorded in AVCHD on the
SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Cards are easy to view on a Panasonic VIERA TV.
Simply insert the card into the VIERA Image Viewer (SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory
Card slot) on VIERA TV or DIGA Blu-ray Disc™ Player to playback your
contents. Alternatively, you can use an optional HDMI micro cable to
output the still and motion images you took from the DMC-TS3(FT3)
directly to the TV for VIERA Link. Most of the control is possible using
only the TV's remote control.

the 3D Photo Mode via the 3D Image Viewer offering users a whole new
