Overview

GME AE409L is a rugged, high-performance antenna kit to suit Australia's harsh conditions. The older style stainless steel antennas are still a great option, particularly when you want a couple of range options - in the one antenna. The AE409L is one such antenna assembly. It consists of two sections, the first delivers 6dBi gain and if you want to get a higher gain for highway driving on long flat roads then you can attach the second section to deliver 9dBi gain. The antenna also folds down for even greater flexibility.

Is the GME AE409L Antenna Right for me?

Alongside considerations of Installation requirements, you need to consider the Gain Rating of your Antenna and how it will impact your use. The AE409L from GME offers two different gains and it will depend on the antenna used.

CA409 is a 6dBi/medium-gain antenna, providing a more rounded, broader pattern than a high gain (8.1dBi) antenna or unity gain antenna (2.1dBi). Meaning the signal is less likely to be obstructed by obstacles such as buildings, trees or mountains. These factors make a medium gain antenna the best choice for those in suburban areas and the countryside.

CA4091 is a high gain antenna (9 dBi). It takes the signal and radiates it along a vertical plane in a tight, narrow pattern. Ideal where the terrain is relatively flat with few obstacles in the signal path, such as when touring across the Nullarbor plain or other treeless, arid or semi-arid parts of the outback.
